Sebastian J. Schlecht is an Associate Professor of Signal Processing at the Chair of Multimedia Communications and Signal Processing at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. He earned a Diploma in Applied Mathematics from the University of Trier, Germany, in 2010, followed by an M.Sc. in Digital Music Processing at Queen Mary University of London, U.K., in 2011. He completed his Doctorate at the International Audio Laboratories Erlangen, Germany, in 2017. From 2012 to 2019, he also served as an external research and development consultant at Fraunhofer IIS, Erlangen, Germany. Between 2019 and 2024, he held the position of Professor of Practice for Sound in Virtual Reality at Aalto University, Finland. He has received multiple best paper awards, including those from JAES, WASPAA, DAFX (2018, 2021, 2022, 2023), and AES AVAR.
